This upgrade was completed successfully with minimal impact to services

This email is to advise of scheduled works to be completed at our Primary Data Centre in Sydney NSW on Saturday the 2nd of February 2008 between 1am and 4am.

Scope of works: Due to significant company and network growth Ultra Serve is completing upgrades of it’s Sydney cisco core network infrastructure to ensure significant processing and network capacity is available to meet ongoing demand. We are also implementing additional redundancy within our carrier and internal core infrastructure to reduce the failover time in the case of device or upstream carrier failures.

Affected services:

  • Ultra Serve Web Hosting and Email Hosting - Services located in Sydney including Dedicated Servers, Managed Services, Ultra Serve Broadband Customers, Co-Location and Network Services

Expected Impact; During the window of 1am to 4am;

  • Customers may experience shorts bursts of intermittent packet loss during a number of 5-10 minute periods as connections to our upstream providers resynchronise.
  • Once the upgrade is complete and within the above window Ultra Serve will perform redundancy testing to ensure key systems are operating correctly, during this time short periods of packet loss may occur.

In the event of a failure during the upgrade process Ultra Serve has a detailed rollback strategy in place to ensure services can be restored promptly, this includes;

  • Equipment replaced during this upgrade will remain in powered up and standby state in the case we need to roll back
  • Senior engineers onsite during the upgrade
